
Commercial Helicopter Pilot License Training

CPL-H Requirements
18 years of age and minimum education of Grade 12 or equivalent
Obtain a Category 1 Medical
Complete PSTAR exam (Procedures and Regulations exam)
Acquire a Restricted Radio Operator Certificate - Aeronautical
English proficiency evaluation
Complete 80 hours of ground school which includes topics such as air law, theory of flight, meteorology, navigation, human factors and flight operations.
Accumulate 100 hours total flight time with a minimum of 55 hours dual instruction and 35 hours solo practice. Flight training includes exercises such as straight and level flying, climbing and descending, turning, hovering, hovering manouvers, take-offs and landings, emergencies including autorotations, confined areas, navigation, basic instrument flying and operational flying techniques.
Achieve 60% or higher on a Transport Canada written exam (CPHEL)

Our training areas are in close proximity to the Grande Prairie Airport. We have a great landscape for commercial helicopter training and navigation which includes the prairies, muskeg, forest, as well as mountains all within range for an exciting yet challenging learning experience!
