This mountain training course meets the HAC (Helicopter Association of Canada) competency guidelines which is also recognized by the BC Forest Service. The total flight time for the course is 20 hours.

Density altitude vs. helicopter performance
Reconnaissance, approach and departure techniques including side hill pads, mountain top sites and operations from ridges and saddles
Hazards and illusions
Physiological and psychological factors
Flight training includes:
Advanced emergency procedures

Confined area operations
Illusion recognition techniques

Wind effects and contour flying

For the pilot that does not want the full mountain course but would still like to learn some basic mountain flying skills, Elevation Helicopters offers a basic mountain course which takes 5-10 hours to complete. This option is most common with the private helicopter pilot.
